According to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, this year, it will award 92 national labor certificates, 695 national labor medals and 797 national pioneer worker groups. A total of 212 women employees are slated to win the national labor medals, accounting for 30.5 percent of the prize winners.

This selection has three features: first, it orientates to the grass-roots level, especially to the industrial workers. Among the nominated pioneer individuals, 280 candidates are industrial workers,179candidates are grassroots workers and professional technicians and 145 candidates are science and education staff, accounting for 40.3 percent, 25.8 percent and 20.9 percent, respectively.

The above-mentioned 604 candidates in total come from grass roots, accounting for 86.9 percent, among which 104 are peasant-workers, accounting for 15 percent.

The number of enterprises' leaders and county-level officers and cadresis declining even further. Thirty-eight candidates come from enterprises' leaders, accounting for 5.5 percent and 14 candidates are county-level cadres, three fewer than last year. In the nominated pioneer worker groups, 639 are worker groups, accounting for 80.2 percent.

Second, all candidates have outstanding work performances and good social reputation, reflecting their contributions to the society. A number of nominated groups or individuals come from three fields including major risks prevention, targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control.

Third, the selection covers every group with broad representativeness. This year's candidates come from various fields of the national economy and the non-public sector accounts for a higher proportion.

As shown by the statistics, the proportions of non-public enterprises and their employees winning the prizes of national labor certificates, national labor medal and pioneer worker group are respectively 44.6 percent, 37.8 percent and 37.4 percent, attaching great importance to non-public enterprises.
